FDIC Information for First National Bank of the South

 
On Friday, July 16, 2010, First National Bank of the South, Spartanburg, SC was closed by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Subsequently, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) was named Receiver. No advance notice is given to the public when a financial institution is closed.
 
All deposit accounts, excluding certain brokered deposits, have been transferred to NAFH National Bank. All former branches of First National Bank of the South reopened during their regular business hours using their current name.
 
The FDIC has assembled useful information regarding your relationship with First National Bank of the South. Besides a checking account, you may have Certificates of Deposit, a business checking account, a Social Security direct deposit, and other relationships with the institution.

FDIC Insurance Information
 

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insurance covers funds in deposit accounts, including checking and savings accounts, money market deposit accounts and certificates of deposit (CDs).

Your deposits with First National are backed by FDIC insurance up to
at least $250,000 per depositor.

First National Bank of the South is also participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through December 31, 2010, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount of the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
